I often hear the saying, when someone shows you who they are, believe them. But what about when God tries to show us who we are? Many times we are walking different roads than we should simply because we don’t believe what he believes about us.
There were times that God actually showed me who I was before I had any indication that it was really me. I admit there were times I ignored his little signals. Not so much because I didn’t have faith in him, but because I hadn’t learned to believe in myself, yet. I had to grow to a place where I could start walking in who I really was.
See, I believe God is always speaking (many times in ways we aren’t paying much attention to). He loves us too much not to be trying to make our lives better. Maybe you remember a time when you were praying and you left that prayer feeling like he showed you a little snip-it of what you could be but you doubted it because how could you ever pull that off? He is trying to give your heart little signals of where he would like to take you.
If God is showing you that you can make it in business, you can have a lifelong family, you can have your dreams, believe him. If he’s showing you that you’re better than that relationship you’re in, believe him. If all you’ve seen is dysfunction but he’s telling you that’s not who you are, believe him. He knows who you are better than yourself. And I’m sure along the way he’ll keep reminding you of who you really are.
