Recently I found myself worried about something. Instead of fully trusting God, I started to try to make things happen in my own power. I started trying to take the advice of others around me encouraging me to do it the way everyone else had done things. But, for my life, I knew it was wrong. I knew that because of where I am going in life and what my past was, I needed a certain type of special thing. Anyone ever been there? You can’t have any old answer. It has to be from God because your circumstance is so unique.
My mom fasted and prayed for me and I didn’t even know it. On the day she was fasting, I felt like I needed to be in worship over the area I was concerned about. Worship him as if it had already happened and start preparing my life to receive what God had for me.
Later on that day we talked and she mentioned her day was spent praying for me. Everywhere she turned, it seemed like “wait” was the message for that day. It seemed like both of the messages we received were for the situation at hand. She cautioned me to trust God and simply be still.
I admit I am not a good waiter. Especially in an area that I perceive I am lacking in or that I could have a better life if I could fulfill that desire. I wonder if there is anything that you are waiting on today. You know that one day he will do it, but for right now you just want it to go ahead and happen so that you won’t have to worry about it anymore.
But, that is not how the plan works. During this time, he will mold you. He will shape you. He will require that you trust him and stay in a positive attitude that worships him for an answer not yet here in the natural realm. During this time, you are getting prepared in your heart for more than what you asked for.
He wants to give you the desire, but he needs for you to realize that he is God and it is only him who is in control. He needs for you to trust that he is a GREAT father, provider, counselor, friend, and whatever else you need.
Don’t fight his leading during this time. He may not be leading you to what you want right now, but he is leading you step by step on what you need to do to start improving in the area that you are dealing with. As you obey, you’ll realize yourself getting stronger in this area and when the time the promise does come, you will be more than ready to accept it into your life.
So on your waiting journey to receive your hearts desires, remember these things:
He Wants to Give You Your Deepest Desires– He wishes for you to have the greatest joys in life. He just needs you to commit your way to the Lord so that HE can bring it to pass. Psalm 37:5
It May Take a While– I am not sure why some things take a while. I don’t know why he doesn’t always do things instantaneously. But, it may take longer than you originally believed. But be assured that what is coming is good and it is better than you could have done within your own power. So the only choice you have is to wait. Not waiting may make you sleep with Haggar-just saying.
You Need to Submit to His Will– Realize that you don’t know everything and there is no way for you to know how to put your life together like you need it to be done. Submit your ways and your WHOLE life to the Lord. Allow him into your situation
Use This Time for Change– While you are waiting on God, prepare your heart. Lean into him to hear the things that need to be situated in your life in order to receive God’s best. Create better habits, better ways of responding. Become a better you.
It is Already Done– Use this time not to dwell in negativity but to worship him as much as possible because it is already done. He already desires the thing for you that you want so badly. But he wants it to be delivered in a healthy package that can survive.
Dwell in a place of worship and thankfulness that you serve a God so in tune with you that he would bless you so radically.
