It should make sense we would want to give up lives that don’t benefit us for a better version. It makes sense we would want to give up anything that harms our well-being emotionally, physically or spiritually.
But the truth is giving up the things we are used to doing, being and speaking can be one of the hardest things we do.
Even though you know you shouldn’t be in that relationship, it may be hard to give it up because the dysfunction feels better than facing the truth and the feeling of being alone.
It may hurt to wait on a future spouse until your heart is clear of any gunk. It may not be popular to wait and instead popular to go out and find you someone even if you aren’t ready for it.
It may be popular to be Christian but not show any signs that you are following a Christian life.
Giving up old lives may require discomfort and many times pain. Pain because of the things that you will lose.
But anytime you give up what is not good for you, you start making room for what is right for you.
Anytime you give up, and allow yourself to go through the hard process of actual healing, you’ll gain more than you thought you could. Giving up the things that are weighing you down may hurt now, but it will bring joy later.
