I was reading a commentary this morning on some of the kings in the bible and how their lives ended tragically. It made mention of the fact that even though there are a lot of people of great faith in the bible they messed up before the end of their life causing dire circumstances. It made mention of the fact that its hard to finish strong.
Having endurance and not quitting is something not a lot of people do. Look at the marriage rate. Look at the number of people who didn’t quit on their business, their children, their desire to let go of an addiction, their relationship with God, on school. It is much more popular it seems to quit.
The person that gets hurt and the life that gets hurt if you do quit is you. And possibly those who are looking up to you. There will always be a hard obstacle staring you in the face as you go forward but I promise that if you high tail it and run in the opposite direction, you will also come on a hard obstacle and you may be faced with regret that you never could finish what you started.
No journey is easy, I can promise you that. Just look at every character in the bible. Was Esther’s journey easy? Even though she is many times praised for saving a whole nation? I bet it was full of tears and why me’s.
What about Moses? Abraham? Mary?
And your story is not easy either. It will be filled with triumph and tragedy. But at the end of this thing God is making a beautiful story that will make you so glad that you kept hanging on despite anything that was thrown your way.
So don’t quit today no matter how difficult, instead change your perspective. Realize that there is beauty right here in the midst of the tragedy of broken dreams.
