Take Your Power Back is a phrase I hear repeated a lot, many times by feminist movements. I think many times people mistake taking your power back as being flashy and showy. As going and telling people off and “Not Allowing” anyone to take advantage of you again. It’s demanding. But oftentimes, taking your power back for a Christian looks quite different, but it’s way more powerful!
The Kinda Take Your Power Back I am talking about is taking the power back that you have through Christ. Sometimes that requires no one knowing the amount of work you are putting in behind closed doors. Sometimes, it requires walking completely by faith, alone and following him, towards a better life. And oftentimes, it’s a humbling experience that doesn’t feel like you are walking in power at all.
Take Your Power Back By Realizing Who You Are
Take your power back by realizing the capabilities you have as a human. Sometimes, you don’t need a supernatural experience and 25000 hours of prayer and fasting to change your situation. For example, if you have a little more to love on you, you can simply exercise and eat right and you will begin to see all those love handles fall off. And, of course, some prayer for the motivation may help you a lot!
Sometimes, great habits are just as powerful as the answers we are seeking through prayer. Habits create the foundation for a better life and all the habits to a prosperous life are already laid out in the word.
It’s okay to realize that you are highly capable. It’s okay to realize that you have already been given smarts and a brain to figure things out. God loves it when we use what he gave us to the FULLEST! He is waiting to bless people that realize and covet what he has already given them. He is looking for people that will take care of the things that he has entrusted into their hands.
So, take a moment to view a situation you are worried about today. There are always two parts to every problem, the uncontrollables and the controllables. What are the controllables in your situation?
For example, you may not be able to change the way someone is treating you, but what can you do to respond in a way that will preserve your integrity? You may not have enough money to do the things you want to do, but what controllable do you have today to start achieving things in small ways?
When we change our view to control the things that are within our hands, instead of worrying about the things that we cant control, we do our part in life so much better.
Take Your Power Back by Giving It Away
This seems contradictory. But sometimes, God will require we give all of our power to him. Sometimes, we will really have to trust him and take our hands off a situation because there is nothing we can do about it.
Other times, you will have to take your power back by getting in a closed room with God and praying until you can start to see a little bit of a break in the clouds. Some things in life may bring you to your knees simply from the impact, and cause you to realize there is nothing else that you can do in your own self. That’s okay, because when you are weak, he is strong, so you are never without what you need to make it through.
No matter what you feel or what you think, the power is in your hands. God wants to meet you where you are but he will require your surrender. He will require you give him the things that you have clenched in your hand for so long.
In order for you to become stronger than the enemies in your life, is to become stronger yourself. In order for you to defeat the things defeating you, you will have to learn to take your power back from all the people, places and things you have unknowingly given it away to.
