Being broken is not a bad thing ( It just feels bad)
When I look at people that have done really great things in their lives and done the uncommon, I many times hear of a past they were running from. The darkness created a toughness and taught them the depths of who they really were. It can be argued that their brokenness was important to who they are today.
Being broken is sometimes the best thing for people. Brokenness is not a bad thing. It is a valuable tool that can teach us how to live life abundantly. If someone is never broken they don’t quite know how to value awesomeness. Because I was once unstable emotionally with the torment of depression and suicide, I sometimes believe that I value life more. When I get up in the morning for my first cup of hot coffee and I pull open the blinds to see the sunlight, I usually take a moment to marvel how I am still here and how I could have missed out on a purpose filled life if God had not saved me. Much of my broken places I’ve come to value even more than the mountaintops. No book could have taught me what I experienced for myself. Nothing could have taught me the beauty of nature and God’s creation quite like those broken times.
Brokenness Can Turn Around to Bless You
What I did not know about those broken times, is that everything I was going through- the anguish, the torment of my mind, the lack of self love, the issues- would one day turn around to bless me. And I don’t mean bless me a little. God would demand that those times give me back double or triple for anything that I had been through. So brokenness is there for your good. It’s there to bless you. Even when it does not feel that way.
Your Circumstances Don’t Determine Your Value
You are not less valuable than another person based on your brokenness. There are some mindsets that don’t want to touch broken people with a ten foot pole. They view people with problems differing from them as problem people. They act like that persons issues are gonna rub off on them. They talk, they point fingers, they explain away on why this person or that person is like they are as if they are God and know all of the answers. Kinda sounds like Job’s friends in the bible.
Other people’s opinions may make you feel less than. But don’t listen to them for too long. Shrug it off. Listen to what God is trying to let you know amongst the noise.. he has a plan for you.. he loves you..
You may feel different because your life is not like other people’s. You may look around and see what seems like perfect people all around. People with their life together. Realize this will be you one day. You’ll have the desires of your heart fulfilled if you keep running your race and allow him into every area. Circumstances don’t determine your value.
