The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights
in every detail of their lives.
Psalm 37:23 NLT
I spent a lot of my life doing what others wanted me to do while my heart was telling me something completely different. The chasm between what looked good in the natural realm and what looked good to my heart was wide. Every direction I looked that wasn’t what my heart was telling me to do, looked like it could be a great path. It looked like a stable job, money in the bank, approval from others, and recognition for being on top.
What was in my heart seemed like the scariest route to ever take. It was a route that meant I was investing in something that seemed to have no return value. I wasn’t going to be paid for it for a long time and I was risking safer options that looked like better choices. In other words, I would be doing the “crazy” thing.
For some theirs isn’t like this. Their calling is the stable thing. It is something that looks like the right decision so I definitely don’t want to come across like that means you aren’t walking the right roads. I just think for some of us, God has to test us. I’m a personality that doesn’t like much change, I would love stability and this walk with God has definitely been a put on your seat belt type of thing.
What do you think that your calling is if you did not have any obstacles? Don’t think about the “logical” choice for once, think about what your first thought was when you read that question? That is probably what you are supposed to be doing.
