Not Consistent
In order to build in life one has to be consistent. Many times, it takes being consistent in one area over a period of time to really start to gain results. Many times we aren’t consistent because we don’t see the results as quickly as we want to see. Say for instance, there is someone that keeps switching jobs. They cant stay anywhere, they always think they deserve better so they are always looking for the next best thing. The problem may not be at the places they have been ,it may lie in their mentality. It may seem unfathomable to them that they need to stay put, maybe for a long period of time and instead work on themselves. Spend the energy building a better them instead of spending the energy trying to find the next best thing.
I really believe that the better a person becomes life will bring them the opportunities. Many times we are living life from the outside in, instead of the inside out. Not realizing that if we take care of what is on the inside, the things we want will make their way to us eventually. It’s the law of nature.
Being Consistent requires a special humbleness. It’s not easy to stay on the job if you feel you are being mistreated by a coworker. Its not easy to stay in a relationship and be consistent after the honeymoon period is over. To stay and make things work requires a humbleness that takes accountability for your own self, even knowing that other people are wrong, and deciding that you are gong to make sure that you are developing and growing even if they don’t.
Not Paying Attention to Everyday Decisions–
I see it all the time, people with great potential and great plans. But their plans are always so mystical and off in the future. They are waiting on God to bring them into their future instead of bringing themselves into it bit by bit. They aren’t focusing on developing therefore waiting on something that will never come unless they become more ready to receive it.
In order to have the kind of life you want to have, you’ll have to get used to making wise decisions. Every little step you are making right now, will bring you closer and closer to the life you want. Which brings me into my next point- You need guidance.
You Don’t Have Good Guidance
In order to really get to the next level in life, you may need better guidance. That is, you need someone that has been there before. Not only someone that has been there but someone that has gotten to where you want to be.
A lot of times people don’t know how to get the guidance they need. And I totally get that. The truth is it’s hard to get someone to really invest in you the way you may need in order to get to where you need to go, especially if you have had some bad breaks and you don’t have family dedicated to helping you.
Here are some ways to find the guidance you need( If you don’t have someone):
-
Quiet Time and Reflection- Spend time with God. He is the one that knows you best and I guarantee if you start putting focused prayer toward the areas that need it, he will start to lead you to wholeness in the area you need it in. But when you pray, don’t forget to listen for what he may be trying to let you know and act on it.
-
Pray for Someone to Give You Guidance–Pray that God will give you someone special to provide Guidance in the area you need. But if he doesn’t provide it, realize that you still have all you need with the resources available to you.
-
Look for guidance in the bible- I also like to view my life according to the bible. ( ya know that thing that no one follows anymore) Say for instance, you have problems with finances, the word has a gazillion scriptures on it. It also tells us to take care of our bodies, how to handle relationships, etc. When you are trying to live differently, you may need some revelation from him during prayer about how to really apply those scriptures to your situation and your life.
-
Trust God and your own intellect to give you guidance if you don’t have it-I’m a believer that many times people already know the answer but they aren’t used to following what they feel. Many times we can just use our intellect to start walking out of our problems. Sometimes you won’t have all the steps to get to where you are going, but if you can start implementing one and get good at it, the next step will become apparent. A lot of times our conscious is trying to let us know but we just aren’t listening.
-
Find Material and Apply It– The truth is it’s hard to find someone sometimes in the circles you are in that will invest in you to the level you may need to really create a change in your life. In this day and age we are blessed to have so much quality material out there. What I used to do is find a person who had everything I wanted in a certain area and follow them. For instance, if I wanted to improve my finances, I would find someone on YouTube or read someones book that had problems with finances and then overcame them. I applied what they did to my life. They may never know how they helped me!
